What a newborn passport photo requires
The U.S. State Department has the same photo standard for babies as for adults — babies just make it harder to hit. A compliant photo needs:
- Your baby alone — no hands, no siblings, no parent in frame
- A plain white or off-white background (a sheet works)
- Even lighting with no shadows on the face
- A neutral expression, eyes open or only slightly closed
- The full face visible, not covered by a pacifier, hand, or clothing
- 2×2 inches on paper, head (chin to crown) between 1 and 1⅔ inches
- Taken within the last 6 months, unedited — no filters or retouching

How the free baby passport photo checker works
- Upload a few photos. Take several shots of your baby lying on a light sheet, then add them all. Everything is processed in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
- We detect and rank. The checker finds your baby’s face in each photo, flags blur, darkness, tilt, and framing problems, and picks the best candidate of the batch.
- You confirm and crop. Confirm the face, fine-tune the square crop, and follow the built-in checklist for the things software can’t judge (eyes, pacifier, other people, background).
Free check vs. $6.99 session
- Free
- Upload, face detection, best-shot ranking, the three-level rating (Ready / Needs Attention / Retake), issue explanations, and a watermarked 600×600 preview.
- $6.99 Session + Free Rework
- One baby’s passport photo session: the full-resolution 1200×1200 JPEG, a 4×6 print layout at 300 DPI with cut guides, a secure download link valid 7 days, no watermark, and one policy-compliant free remake if the government rejects the photo for a photo problem.
Our checks are assistive and honest about limits: we only auto-judge what can be measured, and we never alter your baby’s face or background — the photo stays an unedited original, as official rules require.
